Mohali, August 3: Placement camps & Mega Job fairs successfully conducted in district SAS Nagar under Ghar Ghar Rojgar and Karobar Mission and 4846 applicants’ stands selected by private companies during these placement camps & Mega Job fairs.

Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said that from 1 April 2018 to 31 July 2019, total 45 placement camps were organised in the district whereas 4846 applicants have been selected by various private firms. He said that employment opportunities were provided to a large number of applicants during the Mega Job Fairs organized in November 2018 & February 2019, in this pattern. He further said that with an objective of providing maximum job opportunities, the job fairs are being organised from 19 to 30 September at various locations which include Govt. College Phase 6 Mohali, Govt. College Dera Bassi, ITI (Girls) Phase-5 Mohali, SVIET Banur and Chandigarh University Gharuan, wherein reputed firms will participate and select the applicants.

The Deputy Commissioner said that such job fairs and placement camps are proving the game changer to make youth self-dependent by providing them employment opportunities. These job fairs are serving as a link between the industries and the unemployed youth. The job fairs not only provide the best candidate as per industry requirements but also provide an opportunity to the candidate to choose the firm of his own choice. He appealed the youth of district SAS Nagar to participate in these job fairs and to take maximum benefits from the same. For the purpose, applicant has to register himself with the District Employment & Enterprises Bureau, which also enables them to participate in such job fairs in near future. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General)-cum-Chief Executive Officer Sakshi Sawhney said that to prepare the registered candidates for interviews, free classes on personality development and soft skills are being organised by the bureau.

It is pertinent to mention that District Employment & Enterprises Bureau not only provides employment opportunities to the youngsters but also provides guidance to them for obtaining higher education in foreign countries. Besides this, the bureau also provides complete information about various govt. welfare schemes and self-employment programs.
